Hard water is evident in our area. The presence of lime scale deposits is annoyingly apparent when clogging shower heads, forming deposits on shower screens, around taps and scaling in toilets, basins and sinks.

The scale build up in this modern condensing boiler's heat exchanger (top) will seriously reduce the boilers efficiency and the flow of hot water. The similar heat exchanger (bottom) shows what they should look like when there is no limescale in the water.

But the real and costly damage is unseen. The precipitation of lime scale blocks heat exchangers in boilers, hot water cylinders both vented and unvented, pipes and washing machines. This significantly shortens their design life and impairs efficiency.

The financial benefit of installing a water softener is that it will arrest the unseen damage to your heating system and washing machines.

The practical benefit of a water softener is removing the problem of de-scaling the shower head and the removal of scale deposits in sinks basins and baths.

Additionally, with soft water you will only use half the quantity of soaps, shampoos and detergents.
